This is all based on the honor system. In doing this we trust that the score you provide with us is scored properly, and is shot at the correct distance.

You may post a picture of the target if you would like, you do not have to though.

50 yard iron sights target

Print off one target. It is my recommendation that if you have any cardstock or photo-paper that you print it off on that. Fire 5 shots at each bull (25 shots in all) for a maximum score of 250. If you miss the bull (but still get on paper), count shot as a “0”.

To score an X, the shot must completely inside the 10 ring. It can not be touching the 9 ring at all. This will make for a maximum score of 250-25x

You may report group size if you want, this is optional however. To measure group size, use a caliper, ruler, or micrometer (if group size is small enough), and find the two shots that are the farthest away from each other. Now that you have done this, measure the group from the outside of one bullet hole to the outside of the other. Now subtract .2 from that number to find your group size (Usually when you measure a single shot it comes out closer to .2 then .22). There are other methods for doing this that you may use as well such as: Measuring the center of the one furthest shot and the center of the other furthest shot (and not subtracting anything). Or measuring from the inside of one of the furthest shots to the outside of the other furthest shot. Anyway of these three methods will work for calculating group size CTC (center to center).

If you can not tell what ring a shot touches, please count that shot as the lower of the two. If you have a scoring gauge, you may use it.

RULES:
----------------------------------------------
1. From the front edge of the bench to the face of the target: 50 yards.

2. Weight: There is no limit on weight of the rifle or pistol.

3. Sights: Any type of iron sights may be used. No scopes allowed

4. Triggers may be adjusted to a light pull, but must be safe.

5. Ammunition must be Rimfire: .22 Magnum, 17HM2 and .17 HMR are allowed.

6. Rests: Shoot over sandbags, shot bags, rice bags or any old bag. Use a tripod, bipod, a block of wood or a rock for your front rest. A bunny ear or rabbit ear sandbag is recommended for buttstock support. Shoot from a bench. Shoot prone with a sling or over sandbags. Shoot over a log or the hood of your pickup if you want. One piece rests are allowed. Rests must not be secured to the bench. If you can push the rifle forward after recoil, and the crosshairs are back on the aiming point, it is a “return to battery” rest, and return to battery rests are not allowed.

7. You may shoot more than one rifle each month: Not more that four targets per rifle.

8. Junior Shooters: The minimum age of a young person allowed in these competitions will be determined by the parent. A Junior shooter is a young persons who has not reached the age of 18. If your are a Junior: Type (Age 14): Or whatever your age, at the end of the first line of your score report.

Moderators and Administrators: Could we possibly start up a new forum for this or at least keep these theads as stickies?

(im gonna try it again shooting from a rest to see the score diffrence)

heres what my target looked like

this is as close to a bullseye that I got.

I would like to try this but I am a little confused . The title says " IRON SIGHTS" but all the way through the rules it mentions cross hairs and putting in the make of scope. Question is this strictly iron sights? I would think so from the title but the rest throws a curve into it.

Sorry for not getting back to you guys earlier. I have been away on holidays for the last 4 or 5 days, so was unable to answer any questions.

This particular match will be for open sights (irons, peeps, leaf, or anything else like that as long as no scopes are used). I will edit that part soon

Good luck and hope to see your score!
