I know, a poor showing. Sadly my M39 which I had not shot from the mag before today, turned out to have a bent cartridge interruptor forcing me to shoot this TIMED match using the rifle as a single shot.

Yes, excuses are like #######s, but I also shifted my POI when I dismounted the action between stages to try (unsuccessfully) to fix the problem. My groups were generally very respectable (right Andy? ;) ), but sadly nowhere near the 10 ring after the first stage when I had the malfunction!

Here's the good news guys, when I got home it turned out the problem was just a bent interruptor. 10 seconds of work with the plyers and she's working 100% again. I should learn from this and actually SHOOT the guns I compete with BEFORE the competition starts!! :)

Congrats to Boom Boom who soundly whipped my ass today with the rifle I sold him! lol...

Oh, and thanks to Maple Leaf Eh for ensuring Hitzy didn't win (again).

Sheesh, I never shoot before a competition, I like the surprise and nervous twitch that develops mid-competition when I realize something is wrong. :p

Nice to see a couple Carbines, Garands and some Mosins! Looks like it was fun.

Never borrow a gun from me for one of these shoots.......they never work properly:)
Thanks to all the guys that made the trek from Montreal, best turnout yet for our milshoot!

Oh, and by the way, I never thought I'd say this - but I'm jealous of 9mm Suppository. That lucky SOD has at least three rifles that in a perfect world would be in M gun rack - LOL.

Yes, it's true, there are milsurps I've never owned yet... :(

Many thanks for putting this on guys, had a lot of fun. :) And a big thank-you to Andy for the loner mauser (and ammo that wouldn't go bang:( ) and then Hitzy for the M1 Carbine (and ammo that would go bang most of the time;) ), the rounds that did go off seemed to have served me well.:D I wouldn't have come or shot without the generosity of both of you. Never had a Mil-Surp before looking into getting one now.:)

Excellent. Another shooter falls under the spell of the Milsurp. ;)

You will find lots of advice on what to buy here and Gunnutz is a great place to find one once you've decided.

Kick ass day!!! Definately a lot more fufilling then anything we can do during a day at the range here in Quebec.

Very nice meeting everyone today and shootin the s**t about the surps! As I anticipated, claven lived up to his rep as the wheeling n dealing milsurp encyclopedia! I'm definately gonna pick up some of those pistol targets Hitzy had, they were perfect for iron sight shooting. Thanks again to all that helped organize...looking forward to the next shoot guys!

FWIW the finn mosin I used was a 28/30 (just hadn't decided on which rifle to use when I wrote it down on the sign-in sheet)

ps: shooting without a bench is a lot harded then I thought it'd be! :dancingbanana:

EOHC Nilsurp shoot.

Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for this nice opportunity to get together, shoot our dear guns and have a little bit of a friendly competition.
I am really looking forward to the next edition and as suggested, if feasible, we could add same format of competition at 25 yards with milsurp handguns as well.

Hope no one decides to ban the M1 Garand for this friendly match.:)

Thanks again and see you all next time.

ciao, Claude.

Thanks a lot for the organizers. I really had a wonderful time and it was great meeting all of you who were there. I'm looking forward for the next shoot :D

Here's a promise - we will hold a Milsurp handgun shoot in the future. Likely an afternoon shoot following the morning rifle segment, in which case we'll probably do the hot dog cook thing again, or hold it in conjunction with an IPSC event that has a caterer in.

Stay tuned.

Well although I went down in ranking I had a great time. These things are more then your score.

It was great to get all the iron on the rack. I only wish I had brought some slugs for the trench gun
