Hi all,

Ottawa-area newbie here.

I emailed EOHC two months ago re becoming a member and taking the safety course. I was told that I would be informed when a course would be available. Haven't heard from them since...

My RPAL has been issued (and will be here soon, I hope) and I am itching to get buying and get shooting.

Anyone at EOHC know whats going on?

Thanks.

I believe they only run these courses once winter has pretty much wrapped up as EOHC is an outdoor range and this course requires some work sitting down with books and talking (not fun when its below zero!).

I suspect the course will likely be run in the April time frame but I don't know for sure...

I would not worry the club is run by volunteers who also have there own things to look after ......this keeps the cost down , the first important thing for a gun owner in Canada to have is patience, look at around March or April

I took my course mid-February of last year, the clubhouse has a wood stove.

There was one safety course a few days ago (end of January) and a second one is planned for this month, due to increased demand. I think they've had a little trouble keeping up!

They do take a while to get back to you sometimes, as s&l said they have other things to do, but if it's been a couple of months I would definitely give them a polite reminder that you're still interested in becoming a member.

I'm in the same position as the OP - contacted a few months back but haven't heard since my initial e-mail.

I was signed up to the EOHC e-newsletter but haven't received it. Could it be a technical issue maybe? I know the person I spoke with was very helpful and so I doubt it's an issue with the people running the course.

Thanks!

I wonder if there's any EOHC qualified member out there who is willing to run the EOHC safety course for just a couple of people?

I've got my RPAL, some nice new shiny guns and would love to be able to join a local range and shoot them.

Or should I be looking at a different place where it will be easier to get in?
