i got one from e-bay, not mounted on antthing yet. hard to tell from a real one by looks, internals are prob a different story. works ok in the hand. won't mount on anything larger than .22 though.

Yes, they are just a standard LED red-dot in the EOtech-type body. They do not employ the laser technology of the real EOtech.

EoTech knockoff = Caveat Emptor. Especially dealing with strong recoil forces.

I completely understand the optics are in no way comparable to the real thing but I'm not building a military spec firearm either! The gist of what I'm reading here, is that they won't stand up to the pounding of shotgun recoil?

I'm sorry, but reddots or CCO's have no purpose on a shotgun. Short of running slugs and slug alone, a reddot is a waste of time. That being said, CanAm has it right. Run a cheaper reddot as opposed to the EOTech knock offs.

I totally disagree, and I even run my shotgun with it's red dot through trap shooting just fine.

I think red dots are ideal for shotguns for slugs! That is what I have in mind, but it certainly isn't going to stop me from trying my luck with the old clay pidgeons!!
