Eotech 551 recticle clarity

I was underwhelmed with mine when I first looked around indoors. It turns out that I'm actually impressed with the clarity when not staring across the room but rather out in woods or at the range. I also saw that turning down the intensity helps me pinpoint the centre dot better when trying to shoot tight groups. Both eyes open makes a slight difference that I can't put into words very well except that the dot and ring become clearer as I'm more prone to look at the target rather than the glass itself.

Happy shooting.

They look sharpest when you focus your eyes at a distance. Don't focus on the sight ring.

That goes for all RDS sites. However, due to the nature of the Eotech your eyesight can affect the sight picture regardless of where you focus.

The Eotech uses a laser to project the image and can appear distorted no matter where you focus if you have eye issues. The Aimpoint used a LED dot but some folks prefer the ring and dot of the Aimpoint.

If someone wants to buy an RDS and are not sure what to get due to the intardweb, try different sights at the distances and ranges (indoor/outdoor) you intend to use it at if possible and see if it works for your needs.

If long battery life is a must then it is hard (if not impossible) to beat an Aimpoint.

When you play with it inside, and focus on the sight, it looks blurry. Look at an object across the room, focus on that. and you'll see it perfect!
