hi guys,

i am deciding what optics i am gonna mount on my AR, i know the Aimpoint series will mount with no problems for sure.

but, i was wondering, is the 552 mountable on the little step on the KAC RAS 2?

thanks lots

It sure is, as all EoTech's really only require one picatinny cross-slot, but I think it'd be ugly and you'd have an increased risk of bending the aluminum chassy of the sight, or catching it on something and tearing it off. Who knows if that could happen, though, right?

i guess my main concern is will i be able to mount the eotech AND a BUIS on the spot where the carrying handle used to be? behind the freefloat step?

You can achieve this with a bit of modification. If you mount your EoTech in front of the hump and your BUIS at the back of the upper receiver then it will work. Some may think this is a weird way to set it up but it actually helps when doing your 5 rd :D rapid target to target drills. Many find that the more forward a reflexive type sight is the better. The fact that the RAS II is free floating makes it better since you wont get POI changes.

I have the 512 model eotech and it will not fit on the space I have on my ar15T without a riser of some sort..... I have a troy Ind. BUIS and that and the 512 need just a #### hair of elevation to clear the free float tube on my armalite upper.

the 512 and the troy take up every slot on the upper..... If I was still going to mount an eotech I would go with the "N" celll 511

I've heard people recommend the AA version over the N cell version...

I would think mechanically they're the same so what's the diff?

Or just wait for the new 553 that's smaller than the AA models that uses the same battery as surefire lights so you only need to carry one type of battery as suppose to 2 or 3.

When are these due out?

Priority for the 553 is still the US Army...
I know a few units waiting for them and they will cry bloody murder if they get a public release.

I doubt civilians will see them soon.

That's cool... the people that actually need them should be getting them before that fat airsoft kid.

Any bets on how long it will take to see them hit the retail market?
