I Have an M14 and its set up as a scout rifle. Im looking for a 1x sight and really like the EOTechs. Im going to get an AR in the future and wanted to know if one EOTech will work for both. Obviously different calibre (.308 vs .223) Can anyone provide any insight on this? thanks

Im not refering to the mouting, but to the difference in calibres. I know you can get specific models for .308, but wanted to know if the standard EOTech sight will work for both.

yes 308 and 223 are soft rounds for the eotech, its tested with heavy cartridges

The 308 specific model you speak of has a special reticle (non-circular) to account for bullet drop over longer distances

Look on the EE

There is an eotech MPO for sale on there, I wouldn't pay what he is asking but it's nice to have the magnification when needed. There is also a nice Aimpoint micro H1 for sale for a pretty good price. If that's not to your liking and you want new, I would suggest the XPS2.

Yes. Far as I know all (Not sure about the new XP's) EOtech's are rated for .50BMG. If you're planning on switching sights, for different rifles and calibers - you would need to rezero it everytime.

Count the clicks is what i'd suggest.

I have the XPS2 and it comes with the circle around a dot. The XPS2-2 as I understand comes with the circle and 2 dots, one above the other. Suppose to be good for setting up for zero at 2 distances, if shooting at longer distances interests you. Mine is on my 870 Tactical and holds zero no problem, they are very durable.

They hold their zero very well. Built like a tank too. I was also looking at the XPS2-2 for my M1A

Had one on my C8, no issues at all

Can't remember what service, but one US service use them on M14

I have an XPS 3-0 on my 10.5" AR.
Great sight for quick target aquisition, but IMO it is not a long range sight. Up to 50 yards it's great, out at 100 yards it's not the best. Perhaps it's my old eyes!!!
As mentioned above, "built like a tank", and recoil will not be an issue!
An Eotech (red dot) is just an aiming device/sight, which does not have any sort of BDC system, so it can be mounted on any caliber, zeroed it at a given range, and you're good to go!
My XPS runs on Lithium 123 batteries, the same battery I use in my Surefires. Eotech claim 600 hrs use per single battery. I purchase the 123's from my Surfire dealer for less than $2.00 each, much less than the N battery. Also, the XPS models are much more compact than the ones that use AA's.

Before I sold my M14, I had various sights on it - including an EOTech 552 for quite some time. They work fine.

Zero it. Shoot it. It's a reflex sight. Once it's on, it's on. EOTech's are used effectively on a whole bunch of different weapon systems, including the Dillon M134.

Anyone have an EOTech on an M14? Reviews?
Uh it Rocks!?!
Also depends on what stock you have it on. On a Sage, TROY, M14Doctor or Vltor would be the cats meow. Although on a traditional M14 stock probaly wouldn't be my first pick. Just due to the whole check weld gone a muck issue.
