Im looking at getting myself an Eotech for my AR15, but I'm not really sure which model I should go for. First of all, my AR15 has the fixed front sight. I know you can use both absolute co-witness and lower 1/3, but which option do you prefer? Also, is the XPS/EXPS series bring anything more to the table than the 512/518 besides just size? I don't intend on ever using a magnifier, so I don't have an issue with the bulkier profile. I'm just really new to these sights, I'm used to scopes, so I want to make sure I get the right one for me as they're not cheap. Thanks.

Get a holosun 510c.

Better then an EOtech in every single metric, except that it’s not a true holographic sight, but a red dot sight.

The battery lasts forever, and it has a built in solar panel, and it has “dot” , “circle” and “circle dot”.

Also the circle dot, is very much clearer.

Do some research. F**k EOtech asking $500 or more for a flip to side magnifier.... LOL

Sorry, forgot to mention about how EOtech lied to the public, AND the US army about their thermal drift issues... again Lol.

If you are rich and need to keep up with the jonses, then by all means buy one.

There is literally nothing better, not one feature on a 512 EO, that betters my HS-510c...

At the end of the day, enjoy your premium optic! And shoot it!

XPS/EXPS series has the battery perpendicular to the bore, where the 512/518 has the batteries parallel. Some people have reported recoil causing the optic to shut off from the batteries jarring around in the parallel arrangement. I've owned both a 512 and an XPS, and did not have this issue with either, but both were on a PCC.

My competition AR has sported a 512 for 10000 plus rounds. I dont think the transverse battery mount is necessary for AR. That said, I run a XPS on my semi shotgun due to recoil.

I love the TV Screen on the EoTach optics...
