How do purchase items from a member with no trader rating without offending them and still ensure that you don't come out on the wrong end of the deal?

Treat it like any other deal.

I mean you got one. So only slightly better than zero. But not enough to look down at someone. So go in how you went in with your first.

I have only sold one item not face to face, the guy just trusted me. I would have been OK with a video call to go over the item for sale if they requested it.

Thank you for the smart ass answer. What made you think I was looking down on anyone?
I wouldn't deal with you.

It wasn't a smart ass answer at all.

The way you structured your post it was heavily implied that you need protection and assurances from doing a deal with a '0' feedback member.

Newsflash....there is none.

There's no guarantees against being ripped of by anyone.

Anything can happen from hacked accounts, sleeper accounts with fake feedback reviews for example.

Zero guarantees.

Never send money you cant afford to lose.

Its a gamble and if $1000 loss will spiral you into financial ruin, don't do it.

Perhaps online sales aren't in your comfort zone

Only one feedback, only been here for several months and going on how to deal with people with no feedback without getting scammed, like you need protection.

I got scammed by a member with 100 plus feedback and was on the site for a long time. Some of my best deals were zero feedbacks.

Yup we all got to start somewhere
My first purchase on the EE was for a firearm worth over 8k
It was my first time using an e transfer too
Not gonna lie I was sweating bullets but it all went good
God hates a coward…

I have zero feed back and have been around here for 20 years or so I just don't sell anything but I may sometime in the future

If you mean for firearms, it is reassuring to get the email notification from CFP Online. It is an important bit of info that suggests the seller is legit. Definitely don't send any money before the notification.
If the seller is able to provide additional images that you request then that's more evidence that he actually has the item.
Trader ratings aren't everything because accounts can be hacked so regardless of rating you should pay attention to your spidey senses. Asking for a phone conversation is usually a good idea.

I was given this advice when I started on CGN. Start small, first handful of deals $100 or less if possible and make an effort to have a phone call with the seller. This strategy worked well for me, I have been lucky to only have good transactions on this site.

I rarely take phone calls and never taken a call regarding an item Im selling.
Cell phones in my area are poor call quality.
Im also hard of hearing and just generally dislike the notion that the person calling thinks im a scammer.
Truly thats what is boils down to.
Its also an incredible waste of time you'll never get back.

I had 27 messages about a gun I was selling on gunpơst, no ####įng way would I entertain having 27 conversations about it.

Phone calls can also be hard for people dealing with social anxiety, depression, PTSD and a host of other issues.

Before people blindly jump in....none of those issues stops legal gun ownership in Canada
