Good day everyone, I'm looking at replacing my ruger precision rimfire barrel for either the Shaw or lilja. I know lilja are one of the top of the line. Has anyone had any experiences with both? Which do you prefer? I have been in talks with a few people and I can get my hands on the lilja barrel for 800 and the Shaw for a few hundred less.

Research Shilen Select Match Ratchet rifling barrels... I think you will find they are working at the top of the rimfire BR game as well... and have been there for years.

Costs will be a lot less then the Lilja

I definitely will do that now Jerry, thanks for the input. How do they compare to Lilja?

Jerry, I looked on their website, it doesn't appear that they make any barrels for the ruger precision rimfire...yet.
Thank you.

Thank you.

Shilen is unlikely to make drop in barrels for these rifles... they do for the 10/22 and Ruger 77/22... I just don't know if these will fit

I have asked McGowen and again, so new, they haven't looked at it but will consider based on demand.

Shilen, Lilja, and Benchmark are three of the best barrels in rimfire Benchrest and other top tier competitions. For the costs, it is best to have a gunsmith properly fit to the receiver

Any chance they are going to do some cz barrels

They can make the blank and a gunsmith can machine to fit. Many rimfire actions are push fit and then pinned... it is really hard to bulk machine that and keep tolerance tight enough for match ammo.

I am happy to help with the match blanks and I can refer you to a wonderful gunsmith/machinist who also competed in rimfire benchrest so understands what we need.

PM or email Thanks

Was hoping for a pre fit that didn't run 800

Unfortunately, the US gun industry see no real point to rimfires beyond varmint control... but that is changing. With interest in rimfire PRS, Benchrest and ELR shooting, demand may help create new products.

the CZ should have prefit options from Lilja but again, not cheap.

a quality rimfire blank and gunsmith install is going to cost.... On the up side, you aren't likely to rebarrel in your lifetime, kids lifetime, grand kids lifetime of shooting.

Looks like Mcgowan does custom 10/22 barrels though and the prices are decent. Wonder if they will eventually get into the RPR series.

The 10/22 has been around in staggering numbers for decades so a number of companies make match barrels for this platform. The Ruger precision rimfire rifle is kind of similar so it would not be a big deal to make barrels for this... but demand drives new products.

Best is to contact Mcgowen or any after market company and tell them you are interested in parts. The more demand they see, the more resources they apply to making stuff.

Timney on their FB page did a customer survey on which rifle to make a trigger for... the poll showed the highest demand for the Rem 783... VOILA, trigger is in the works.

Go bug them...
