I'm considering a project, and would need to raise funds: roughly what do you think this P14 is worth? Bolt and receiver match, volley sights front and rear, 2 or 3 very minor stock dings, bore a bit frosty, missing rear swivel, no sling.

I tried to make all the pics large, but to no avail.

I have more pics, but I wanted to avoid overkill ;)

The bore is the real kicker. "A bit frosty" is a bit of an understatement, I can't see any rifling left at the muzzle... is the whole bore like that? It also looks like the stock was sanded and varnished. Another negative.

How well does it shoot?

If the bore was in VG condition and the stock was unmolested, I'd say $475... but for this I'd say $300 is a good start, and only because of the volley sights.

I don't know what the marking is on the stock disk... looks interesting though. Maybe someone else can shed some light...

I hate to suggest this, but you *may* make more by parting out the rifle. Not much mind you, but it is an option.

Dibbs on the volley sight set. :p

Tyler is right, sanded stock, refinished with ???, pitted bore etc. The rifle is no longer a collectable. Parting it out wouldn't be a bad thing. Many of those parts would indeed be appreciated by those that need them to complete a rifle. If you need the parts, try Sarco or Northridge or Gun Parts, it saves a lot of problems.
That being said, some of those pitted bores shoot very well and the rifle would make a great candidate for the milsurp shoots. My assessment of value is a tad lower, $250-$300 would be fair, anything more would be a bonus. The sights can be bought off the above suppliers for $25. bearhunter

If the stock were chemically stripped of the varnish, and treated with BLO, it would be a representative example of a P-14 that had not gone through a Weedon rebuild. If the bore at the muzzle is representative, it is more than a bit frosty. Might or might not shoot acceptably, one way to find out.
Offhand I would estimate $250. Can't agree with the suggestions to part it out. It is a complete rifle that could be made presentable.
Interesting marks on the butt disc, but I cannot help out with interpreting them.

$200-$250. Nobody wants a sewer pipe bore and varnished stock on a milsurp, but it is still and interesting rifle.

Thanks all, I appreciate the honesty. I'm disappointed, but that's life. Yes, the whole bore is like that, I took some pics today: not exactly pristine, is it?

I have to give my brothers first refusal on it, but if I sell, I won't part it out- I agree that it should stay in one piece. Yes, if anyone can shed any light on the butt disc, that would be great. Thanks again, all.

P-14

What is the mark on the disk in the stock? It looks like a German eagle and a Danish crown. They aren't a common British mark.

I would have a new barrel installed if practical and have a shooter. Or get another cut down P-14 and restock it with your parts. It's easy to find a cut P-14 but not easy to find a complete stock set for one. I am waiting to find a good one and have it rebarreled with the new P-14 barrel I have in my collection. Is it common to find a P-14 barrel in the white or were they commercial P-14 barrels?
