So last night at class on round number 51 my match Shadowmate, purchased in July 2012 broke. After I added up the rounds today I discovered it broke at 20, 551 rounds. What broke????? The trigger return spring, first one I've broken in any of my guns.I continued the drill after it broke, manually resetting the trigger for the next 9 shots. Decent group at 7yds too. About 3/4 of an inch I would guess. Grabbed the backup, backup gun (my Steel Challenge gun) and continued class. Swapped out the spring today and ran it at class tonight, ran just fine of course.
I've got over 80,000 rounds through my original gun and it's still the original trigger spring. I have changed the firing pin spring in it once though. As well of my 5 practice mags, 3 have cracks in the back by the feed lips, mag #2 is cracked only on the right side but it's a bad crack, about 1/2 cm long. It's bad enough that if you smack the baseplate it pukes most of the rounds out. Really fun on a slide lock reload, if the slide doesn't auto forward the mag will spit all 10 rounds out the ejection port. Funnnnn! So I need some tig welding done to my practice mags I guess. whoot. I figure each of the mags has to have had between 40 and 50 thousand rounds though them. Something like that. Good thing I've got spares and dedicated match mags.
