I did a google search but didn't find much....

what's the process for etching the cartridge designation onto a gun barrel?

Is it a complicated process?...does it use acids....electrical curent...both?

getting tired of stamping....

dang...why didn't I think of that....

does it have to be a Dremel?...we have a few air powered die grinders here at the shop...they'll hit 20,000RPM at 120PSI...but I might have a runaway...

but, I don't want to flute the barrel , just mark the caliber

Etching does indeed use acids. However, rifle barrel info is stamped or machined.
