Here is a tribute to Mr. Stoner.

What do you guys think Eugene would think of the current AR manufacturing world and it's rise to the hunting world as well?

Would he shake his head at some of the manufactures out there, which ones would he be impressed with and which companies would he be displeased with?
 
i think polymers and modern composites would have turned his crank, i wonder what he would think of the modern ARs made mostly of carbon fiber

i also could see him advancing lightweight ergo bullpups perhaps

He was not just a gun genius.

He was way advanced on a ton of items.

35mm Cannon for his Ares Air Defense system, Casetelescope lightweight MG's, but also he built lighweight Aluminum boats and a ton of other stuff.
He also flew his own Bell Jet Ranger helo.

He was always pushing for new materials and ideas.

There was a funny exchange with him and Reed Knight in the years before his death when Reed asked him why he never had rails on the original gun, and Stoner responded, yeah in 1950's I was really thinking about lasers and combat optical sights...
 
Brilliant man,way ahead of his time. KevinB is also very correct he had his hands in/on a lot of really cool stuff given the time he was living in.
Would loved to have met him and had him give a tour of all his ideas and prototypes.Smart old bird he was.
