Evaluating your rifle on EE

Photos, that sometimes is the problem… post photos, lots of them and offer to answer all questions ask the best you can.

If its been bumped more than twice, it’s more than likely priceless junk. I don’t bother looking at ads that have had more bump than a frogs azz.

Anything clearly described with photos and priced properly sells. If I haven't sold it in a couple of bumps I am priced too high. Folks here have a good nose for gouging and what things are worth. As said already if you are at or above what it retailed for you won't get much action on it.

I always love the " Hard to find " sales pitch for mass produced run of the mill rifles.

I guess it is a matter of motivation do you want to make a profit or just move the gun. BTW if anyone knows how to actually make money buying and selling let me know. I always seem to lose money lol....

Making a post whining about how mantvtimes an EE post has been bumped is a waste if time unless the type of gun is mentioned or a linkbto the post.
Not all guns are an average Savage axis for $450, some rifles even when priced aggressively to sell take longer to sell , like a Browning White Gold Medallion Grade V, Fancy Sako etc.

Yeah, I also ignore the "rare", "hard to find", "basically new" and all the other BS people use to try and sell their guns. If you haven't put in a picture, it would take a really exceptional gun that sounds like exactly what I want for me to even bother contacting a seller. There are a couple on the EE right now...a Browning .22 semi-auto comes to mind...that have no pics and despite a very competitive price they are still sitting there after a number of BTT's. Those same sellers never seem to provide pics, and their ads often stagnate for a long time. Might be a lesson to learn here...

But I completely agree that the time it takes to sell something varies widely depending upon how unusual or "niche" it is. If you are selling some oddball item that has a very limited market, it might take some time to move it regardless of the price.

If I'm trying to sell a typical mainstream budget gun...Ruger American, Savage Axis, etc...I like to price it at the bottom end of what similar rifles are listed at on the EE. I'll gladly give up $50 or so to sell right now rather than monitoring an ad for weeks...but I've got no patience for the guys who simply cannot pay asking price regardless of how low that may be. If I have a gun that's $1000 new...and there are a couple others listed for $850...I might price at $800 or $750. I want to sell it...that's why it's listed...but guys who are constitutionally incapable of just saying "I'll take it!" often won't even get a response from me.

If you don't hear back after trying to lowball me...well, it's not because you're on my Ignore list; I don't have one. It probably means that you just sound like too much of a PITA to deal with. :)

I'm still chuckling about the guy who made me an insane lowball offer on a beautiful 9.3x74R double rifle I had listed once. I forget what the offer was but it was something like 50% of my already very competitive price; he explained that it would be a "truck gun" for him...I explained that no, it wouldn't...

CGN - marked up over 300% from retail ...

I mostly purchase new from stores, watch for sales.

Antiques or specialty items can be found sometimes on CGN.

That's about it

Everybody wants to make a dollar and that’s understandable but in the end it really comes down to if you want to actually sell it or not.I think most of us on here normally sell a gun to get another and the desire is such that you are willing to price it fairly and maybe even take a little less so you can your next purchase quickly. Then there are others who refuse to lose a dime and will bump the ad until the hinges of hell freezes over.To each their own is what it comes down to though I know it does suck when someone has a gun you really want but has an insane price on it

I had a rifle and a shotgun on for sale they didn’t last a day, and now I have an other rifle for sale that I think is properly/fair priced but doesn’t go, always interests, questions, but still there.

I think it depends what you’re selling. The market for a Fudd rifle is alot different than something niche. There’s probably 50x 6.5 creedmoors sold on the ee for every 275 rigby, or 338 winmag. I don’t really shoot any mainstream stuff and it usually takes me awhile to find the specific firearm I’m looking for when I’m shopping new, so I would naturally expect that my audience for selling is also only people like myself looking for a niche item.

I always get a kick out of the guys who message and tell you your stuff is only worth a fraction of what you’re asking so you should just sell it to them for what they say it’s valued at. Lol. Too funny.

Not certain about any one else but if I don't want a gun , you
can not give it to me at just about any price . (xcptions)

Unknown / unwanted guns are just that , all guns
have a value to the owners & I've not bought a gun
with the intention of selling it.
