Had some good group going today at 300 yards for a factory manufactured gun. in 223.Rem
I know only 5 shot groups are what really count but here is my first 3

I only had four shells left, guess the pressure at looking at first three through a 32x Nightforce was to much for me, I guess I am sure not the first one to have this happen to. I opened the gate for another shooter to go down road to 300 yard targets and asked other fellow if he would mind bringing my target back, he had been shooting a 300wsm quite well, but said gee's its to bad you got that one out there, or you would have had a dandy group.

I hate it when I get an "inch and a half group...roughly" at 300. Makes me wanna shoot some more...hehe. Nice job.

Haeheheh. Yup I've been there. I 've learned the hard way to never look at the target until after you're done.

Cold bore shots?

For the first three do you know what the shot order was?
Cold Bore shots are not going to be the same and the following shots, usually you get about two shots off before the barrel warms up enough to push following shots (depending on how fast you shoot).

One option is to warm the barrel up before shooting to check your group size, or you can just take your time between shots and let the barrel cool down (or at least dissipate).

Hi ochiix
The third shot was one of the two touching each other, my spotting scope is not as good as my scope, and it looked like two holes togeather, friend on bench next to me confirmed that with his spotting scope. and then I was kind of dazzled that I had such a tight group at 300 yardsand then of coarse you know where the 4th shot went.Just couldn't stand the pressure.
I have shot groups at 300 yards before with this gun and usually keep them in a large 1" +group, if I read the wind correctly.
Sorry the barrel had fired about 6 shots and was warm not hot
