ever make your own 1911 grips?

Anyone ever make your own 1911 grips? I made a couple sets this week out of cedar




the bottom set was treated with tru oil

They look great. You did a good job in getting the shape and the arch of them right.

But cedar is a VERY soft wood and as a result it is going to be marked and dinged very easily. So easily that you'll quickly wonder where the marks came from. Your next step is to move on to a hardwood of some sort that is tougher so they'll stay good looking for many years to come.
