Ever Wonder What An NEA15 Looks Like After Close To 10K Rounds?

I've had my NEA-15 since January 2012. In the past 2.5+ years I've put close to 10K rounds through it and competed in well over a dozen multigun events with this 14.5" rifle. Probably 2/3 of those rounds were Norinco, the rest were AE 55gr and reloads (55gr hornady bulk). In that time I've had maybe 5 or 6 dud norinco rounds and half of the time they would fire when I gave them a second chance - if they fail a second time I toss them.
I've shot in the hottest and coldest temperatures this end of the province of Ontario can dish out. I lube sparingly, 102 Moly Grease on the carrier rails and a few drops of Archoil in the appropriate spots, though I did drink the frog lube koolaid once and applied the paste according to their directions. As I understand it, when I got my rifle from SFRC, NEA wasn't making their own bolts and mine has a dpms bolt that Ryan installed before shipping out.
I installed a Geiselle S3G trigger and a Magpul BAD lever early on, no issues with either. Actually I did have an issue with the Geiselle trigger...it made every other AR trigger I've pulled since suck.

So here are the pics. Take them for what they are worth. I stopped keeping accurate numbers of rounds fired after my 5th 1600 round case of norinco 223 but I'm confident that I'm not far off from 10,000 rounds. Contrary to CGN lore, my #### has not fallen off. I will say that my cam pin is worn to the point that it is easily felt when running my finger along it. Now if Mg2401 is correct, I've said something against NEA and that means I will be banned and this thread will disappear...if that is the case, well, I guess you will not be reading this.

And finally, just because I love Canada, here is a shot of 2 Canadian made AR15s with a Canadian made watch (Momentum Cobalt Lite) and a tasty Canadian draft beer (Neustadt Springs Big Dog Porter)

thank you for posting the detailed pics! Looks like that gun has served you quite well. Are the groups starting to open up? ANy noticeable barrel wear?

Nice, and here you're outside the "they've gotten better in the last 18months" window as well ;)

I will say that my .300AACs cam pin is definitely getting a wear ring in it, and I've run less than 1k rounds, plus my firing pin tip is rough, which could explain the cratered primers I've had since the start.

I'll have to ask Ryan if such consumable parts are warrantable. If not ill shell out the OMG $10 for a new firing pin, and replace the cam pin when it's got a trench worn into it.

The barrel looks great but it is difficult to photograph, especially after a few of those porters ;). I haven't shot off a bench in so long, I honestly can't tell you if the groups are opening up. I will update this thread with some 100yd groups in the near future.

Meh it does look really good for its count, im curious was there mag dumps involved? Cleaned after every ___ rds? I know rod from civil advantage got 12000 out of his norinco cqa before the barrel gas port wore out. Im hoping to get a lifetime out of my type 97 pass it on to my granchildren type of deal

Cleaned thoroughly maybe 6-8 times...never really a set schedule, mostly when I was bored and thought was about time to inspect and clean. The barrel has only seen a few shots of G96 and bore snake probably every 500 rds or so.

As for mag dumps, nothing extreme. Drills and competitions and monthly 3gun practices have been the mainstay.

Finally decided to get out to the range and shoot some 100yd groups today. Conditions were not idea as it was a touch foggy/misty but at least there was no significant wind. I stapled up 2 targets, loaded one Pmag with Norinco 223 ammo and another with AE 55gn black box and figured I would shoot those mags and let the results show what they may. I wasn't going to cherry-pick and I wasn't even going to warm up...just shoot and see.
These groups are shot with me resting the rifle on my range bag. Optics were a standard eotech and 3X magnifier. I haven't cleaned the rifle since I originally posted the pics in this thread and I've shot 4 matches and a couple of 3gun practices since then. Again, probably not ideal "group" conditions but I'm not exactly a precision shooter anyways.
