I was taking apart my 1942 Tula today to bed the action and barrel and I noticed it had C H above the Tula star I remembered it ment it was a sniper so I looked it up today and it seems to be just that. Here's where it gets weird there's no mark of it ever having a scope. Is this common? Maybe they ground it off to make it look nice?

Most every ex-sniper I have seen had the old scope mounting holes filled in but still visible....That bbl is a sniper rifle bbl,..perhaps she was recycled onto another reciever? How's the bore BTW?

Hmmmmm....could be an ex sniper that had a damaged reciever which was replaced prior to being placed in storage after she was returned to a normal 91 30....hence the matching numbers...They were selected for conversion to sniper rifles after accuracy testing from the production line....possibly she was refinished and the holes are well hidden...not really sure though
