Well, it pretty much says it all, I've gotten a bit too much oil on my stock, and i cant get it out of the checkering. Any tips on removing the surplus?

Thanks,
Alex

The only way to get it right is strip the stock and do it again.
I don't know your application method, but very thin applications with a pad or fingertip will give you absolute control over where the finish goes.
A light sealing coat in the checkering should be sufficient.

You can tape off the rest of the stock and scrub the checkering with lacquer thinner and a stiff toothbrush.. change the tape and do it again...

when applying your next batch of oil on the stock, should only need 1 or 2 light coats on the checkering. I usually wipe on with a rag and then take a tooth brush to work into the grooves, and wipe the oil down to the end of the checkering and take a dry rag and clean the excess. i hang the stocks muzzle up to work on them.
