I have a nice cavalry carbine but when the cruciform bayonet is folded into the stock of the rifle it is not held tight. Is this typical and can it be fixed? The point of the bayonet drops below the stock just far enough that you would get stuck real good if you were to run your hand up the stock without thinking.

IF you are talking about a CARCANO Cavalry Carbine, the problem will be WEAR on the Bayonet Hinge Pin or in the root of the Bayonet itself.

Either can be built-up and machined tight...... or swapped-out for one which holds things tighter.

If it's for another make of carbine, I can't help. There were a LOT of Cavalry Carbines.....
