Exotic Brass

Anyone else feel like Scrooge McDuck when sorting polished brass?
Not super rare stuff; but a bit scarce.
Handfuls of 38-55, 30-40 Krag, 9 mm Steyr & 9.3 x 57. Like coins trickling through your fingers.
303 br...meh, like 9 x 19...yawn.
8 x 57 is better, 7.65 x 53 improving yet
32-20, 38 & 41 LC, 44-40, 44 Russian... licence for fun.
Handfuls of Magtech 24 gauge necked down to 577 S-E... reminds me I need a Mold!
Healthier playing with Brass than Bullets lol.

What’s the difference between a 577 case for a Snider and a 577-450 case for a Henry Martini? Will be reloading shortly for these once I round up the components.

oh ya... made that mistake, was tumbling some 45 colt and saw a pile of 44Mag brass and thought hey I missed some... and dumped them in to the tumbler too that was fun to sort.

like tumbling 7mm RM 300WM and 338WM all at the same time, good idea, fill the tumbler but then you need to sort it.

oh and 22 Hornet and 30 Carbine do not make good tumbling companions, the hornet gets stuck inside the 30 Carbine.

now there is no mistaking those 577/450 brass for anything else.

and I don't have any 577 but I think that brass would be too short to make into 577/450

if you don't know then maybe you shouldn't be loading at all. .577 snider is a 2 inch case and its necked down for a .577 diameter bullet most British sniders shoot a .590"-.600" bullet better and the lee dies over size for these cases. the .577-450 is 2.34 inches long and necked down to .458" again these shoot better with a .468"-.470" bullet and lee dies over work the brass.

badly formed .577-450 or cases with splits in the neck can be shortened and fireformed into .577 snider. kind of nice to have both around

Wow, what a bonehead reply. I’ve been reloading for years, quite successfully I might add. I presently reload for the Snider with reworked brass from Martyn at Xring and .600 bullets from Jethunter. I’ve recently acquired a Martini Henry and will be researching loading info for it, but you can be sure I’ll ask someone with better personal skills,
