Greetings,
Anyone have any experience with the Pedersoli sharps carbines?
I am looking to buy a gun that I can shoot paper cartridges and I hear that these ones can be a nightmare wrt fouling.
Thanks

The Shiloh Sharps carbines work the best when it comes to fouling as their design is different from the originals but that said most percussion Sharps replicas will freeze up eventually but some are worse than others.Pedersoli changed their design to help with fouling but some people say it is worse. There is an o ring modification that can be done on the Pedersoli to help with the fouling. My experience though has been mainly with my percussion shilohs like this 1859 and 63 sporter.I did have a Sile (IAB) 54 Sharps carbine when they first came out and it would seize up after 3 or four shots .The armi sport percussion Sharps have the original style bushing in the chamber which can be problematic with seizing and requires a special tool to free it up View attachment 669805

Great....thanks....
I have heard of some having their pedersoli freezing up even after the first shot and that being one of the new ones.
Some have said that once that happens it is very difficult to remove the block for cleaning being almost seized in.
Would still like to have one at some point, guess will have to try to find one of the Shiloh...long wait times I suspect.
Nice rifles.
Thanks again

The Charlie Hahn does a breech block conversion for the Pedersoli that works great but the price is $250US or so and you would have to ship it down to the States and back and deal with Customs. All said with shipping and exchange probably close to $500 Canadian when done

i have seen some mention of him and thought that it might be quite the hassle getting the block back and forth. Figured that I should try to find a rifle that did not need the work done to the block just to make it fire correctly.
From the sounds of it it doesn't seem that Pedersoli is interested in correcting anything about this.
Have you done this with Charlie Hahn?

No I haven t as my percussion Sharps have all been made byShiloh I haven t had a problem with them .The only one I did was the Sile carbine and I had that when the Percussion sharps repros were first being made and the breech block conversion wasn’t t available
