I'm looking for a little input from anyone with any experience with this Tasco scope. I have the Tasco target/varmint 6-24 x 42 on one of my rifles and it is a great scope for the money, I'm wondering if the 10-40 x 50 would be comparable in performance and quality.

They can be good or bad. I bought mine used from a shooting buddy, it's on a 22 rimfire & works very well for me.

It is not as clear as my Bushnell 4200's or Weavers but the max range I shoot the .22 is 200m & I can see the bullet holes in target at that distance.

Open the box at the store and make sure everything is working as it should.
All of mine ended up on .22's as I upgraded to better glass.

Not a bad scope for the money, if you take good care of it.

Wow you thought a tasco would handle a 308! Silly silly.
Like you I went cheap and got the 6-24x tasco. Wanted more power so I cheaped out again and got the 10-40x. 40x for less than $200= awesome but I knew it wasn't fantastic glass, but it was going on my 22. I found the exit puple just too small at 40x and very taxing when shooting. I then changed to a BSA sweet 22 6-18 with abit better glass. Again I wanted more power.
I finally spent good money on a Sightron 10-50x after looking though a guy who was shooting with one.Sold all the exrta scopes at a loss :( lesson learned.
OMG, now I know why people spend twice as much on there scopes as the rifle!
Honestly, save your money unless you can get the scope for alot less than $200!
Buy a good scope and it will last!

They are decent mine wouldn't hold zero any more on my .308 but I had it for years so I got my money out of it.

I have the 6-24x on my .223 and it holds zero perfectly. I know that the Tasco's are not even close to high end optics, but it gets the job done for very little $$.

I purchased the 10-40x to put on my 22-250... We'll see how it holds up. Worst case it ends up on my .223 and the 6-24x gets bumped down to one of my .22lr's.
