Lately i've been itching to get a softer trigger weight setup for my Marlin 925. After a bit of searching around both the JARD and Riflebasix triggers have been talked up by various sites/forums etc.

Has anyone here had any experience with these setups? If so did you order them directly from the states or have it brought in through the local gun shop? Basically I'm trying to get a feel for what is the best value for this sort of kit and the best way of buying one. (if i order it from the states i don't want a big hassle)

There have been numerous articles/posts about using the spring from a mechanical pencil to achieve similar effect, but i'm not terribly excited to put a pencil spring into my rifle. To me it makes more sense to spend the money and know that i'm getting something of higher quality.

Thanks for whatever you can tell me.

most people on rimfirecentral forums use the rifle basix triggers. i was gonna get one for my 917v but then figured why bother spending 80 bucks on something when i can spend a few cents and modify the trigger myself.

id go over to RFC and search for 925 triggers mods. if its anything like the 917v's trigger its a piece of cake to modify to get rid of any side to side slop, creep, and lighten the pull.

EDIT: a quick search just let me know that the 925's have the t-9000 triggers just like the 917v's. its a piece of cake to modify. send me a pm if you are interested and ill guide you through it. i now have a 3lb trigger with no slop or creep. i went down to as light as less than 1lb but figured it wasnt safe for a hunting gun;)

What gun are you looking to install it on?

On my Marlin 917, I am down to about 2 pounds, with no creep. I changed around 2 springs, and that made a big difference. Cost me about .50$. If you are up to it, you can also probably do some minor sanding on the contact parts, and shim it up. That should bring you down to the 6-8oz mark.

Heres how its done :)
