Exploding .22 cartridge

That Eley ammo is designed for use in semi auto platform rifles. Targeted fo CRPS,NRL and outlaw competition plus all the USA style precision matches . If your bolt is not smooth that’s a problem and as stated by others they will fire with the bolt not fully closed. As far as trying to remove unfired rounds from the chamber and not ejecting. That’s common with Kidd barrels and some ammo engages the rifling on chambering making extraction of unfired rounds sometimes difficult. Firing the round is sometimes the only solution just make sure the bolts fully closed.
Thats good to know, its my first Kidd barrel so another learning curve.

That's very interesting, so I'm thinking my current receiver is a C71 SBI and the Bolt is from SBI too and they both have a black material which unless well oiled feels much dryer than the stock 10-22 set which seems to be a bit more forgiving on cleaning in between range time.
The SBI definitely needs a bit more oil and now I'd say a definite clean after each range session to stop the bolt being "sticky" which I think now is what caused the issue, that and the ammo I was using from ELEY has a lot of wax on the bullet which added to the guminess and prbably an out of battery malfunction.
I have the same receiver bolt combo in 2 rifles (Green mountain barrels, doubt that matters). I first used black graphite for lube but it was too sticky after a couple of range visits. Now I use spray white silicone lube and the rifle performs a lot better. I found a quick shot with the bolt open on the inside top of the receiver is all it needs. It will likely take less as the rifle gets more rounds put through.

It is not uncommon for accuracy ammunition to have greased or waxed bullets. But this can lead to the fouling buildup you noticed in your autoloader.
When seeking the best accuracy performance in a .22 it is necessary to find out exactly which make and model performs best. And then function must be considered.

Huh... well that's very interesting and somewhat scary.

My 10/22 has a Kidd bolt and Kidd match barrel, and I have run exclusively Eley Semi-auto benchrest precision in it. I have noticed that after about 100 rounds I'll start having a few case ejection issues and the occasional failure to feed, which I attribute to how much dirtier semi-auto rimfire runs.

The waxy lubricant on Eley ammo causes a lot more buildup in the chamber and action from what I've seen in this rifle and also my bolt actions that I run Eley in. I clean my 10/22 after every 100-150 rounds because of this as it seems to keep up with the ejection issues.

I am surprisingly able to extract live rounds without issue... perhaps because I clean it so often? My CZ457 IBI barrel headspaced to 0.042 won't extract live rounds, regardless of ammo type.

I've got a silicone lube which is in a tube would that work or is a spray better? What brand are you using?
It's funny with the Ruger 10-22 I've never had an issue but I'm assuming the tighter tolerances of better quality gear creates its own challenges?

I'm definitely going to rethink my cleaning schedule with this set up and probably keeping the round count lower than I put through my TD before cleaning.
