Exploding tumbler

I've also heard they explode if you use gas as a cleaning agent... I've never heard of one exploding on it's own... Spontaneously combust yes.. once but that was after running for 72 hours in a closet...

There was a post on 1911forum a few of years back (2002) by JiminCA that showed a lyman that had caught fire and melted to nothing. IIRC it was left on for a couple of days.

I've left my Lyman tumblers on for days ata stretch for ugly brass, never had a problem, and the older of them is 30 or so. - dan

I have left my tumbler go the same, 3-4 days sometimes when I have really grimy brass usually bought at gunshows. I have 2 Lyman tumblers that are now 23 years old. One is a little noisier than the other but that's about it. At the Truro gunshow I purchased 1900 9mm brass casings and 1000 38 Special, the 9mm was really dirty. the tumblers got a little warm but nothing dangerous.

I've just started using a Frankford Arsenal tumbler. I'll let you know if it blows up, catches fire, or wears a hole in the floor through to the apartment below.

Since I am in an apartment, I won't leave it on while I go out, in case it does annoy the neighbours below, but I'm not going to sit in that room watching it work. Life goes on.

I have a cheap timer that I run with my tumbler that way if its does catch fire or the screw comes loose and the green stuff starts jumping around, It will only do it for 2-3 hours.

I have thousands of hours run time with my Lyman tumbler and its going strong!

Hey Klunk ...

"well, I don't know, but I've been told ..." tell your Buddy he's full of crap !

More "Buddy's" that are full of crap than tumblers catching fire it seems !!!
