I have some rare ammo and I have a interested buyer in Russia. Buyer has an import permit. Ammo is not prohibited. It is my understanding that procedure has to be very simple:

1. Get export permit (do I really need one?);
2. Send ammo;

Are there any hidden obstacles? What freight company I can send it with? If somebody done something similar already - please share your experience.

PS. I phoned CFC but they do not know anything and said that it does not concern them! :confused:

If the Russian Customs Police require him to have an export permit from the country of origin you can apply to Ottawa for for one. If this is not the case, just ship it, as Canada does not have export requirements for ammunition, except for certain countries.

Russian Customs only requires him to have an import permit (and he has it already).
As you nicely noticed - we have no export permit required for ammo except to certain countries. Is there an up-to-date list on such countries somewhere?
I've found out today that it cannot be shipped via "air". It is not that big of a deal. Juts transit time is going to increase, but he is not in a hurry.

What Canadian agency might know proper procedure? I just do not want to take my chances and have some headaches later.
