Q Creek Ranch WY is hosting an extended range PRS series match 5-7 Aug 2016 an opportunity for us to get our big 7s and 30s out. The ranch has 840 square miles of terrain to test our skills. Targets will be generous but expect targets from 500-1800. All shooters will be competing for trophies and the prize table. PRS competitors shooting for points will need to adhere to PRS caliber and velocity restrictions (.30 cal and 3150 fps). Q Creek is remote so we will be serving lunch each day. The match is about angles, distance and precision shooting from natural terrain. Expect the round count to be around 150. Scott Satterlee and Ryan Castle are your match directors.

1800... yikes. I've done a 1900 y shot before on a 300 WM. Distanced with a terrapin, took a NXS maxed out turret wise, 20MOA rail, and the full use of the reticle. Wind had me shooting at measured distances off target Not visible in scope.

Luck? Likely. Still fun.

Looks like a very fun event, but I'm definitely not set-up for that.

Will, like Jerry, be very interested in the gear used. What an awesome match this looks like being. More I read about PRS more I figure I should get off the prone only matches I play in.

This one will be off of terrain and terrain features.

Some pics Scott took of the venue while scouting it for firing points, etc...

If I had a suitable rifle I would be all over this like a fat kid on a box of Smarties.

Some stats from the match:

Winner was using a 300 Norma.
Top three had hit ratios around 70%
50% of targets being past 1000 yards
IRIS target flashers were used to detect hits.
Individual match, no spotter. Had to spot your own shots.
3 shots max at any target.

That is some beautiful country. If I was living there my entire rifle budget would be into "precision". Id be into a 1000 yd match max out there if that ever came around!! Unfortunately do not have the money for those distances yet!!! A man can dream though!!
