Extending the Chiappa Little Badger stock

So I bought one of these things and they're awesome! I even told my wife it was for her . The stock on this thing is tiny, it's really hard to shoulder. In the booklet that came with it, it says you can adjust the stock by loosening two screws near the rear of the receiver then wiggle it out. I tried and tried but the bastard wouldn't move. I even took the screws right out and tried. Any tips guys? I don't want to have to open the entire thing up and have a spring fire out just to lengthen the stock.

When I had mine, I took the side plate off of it and it popped out and adjusted it that way.

mine had some kind of locktite type stuff on the threads. I cracked it in half and chipped the stuff off. There are some photos of it opened up out there. I don't think there were any springs that really wanted to fly.
