Extension Tube for Semi Auto [Build Question]

I have a couple questions regarding a project I'm working on right now. I currently have a Benelli M2 3 Gun. I would like to, for atheistic purposes, extend the tube to be flush with the barrel and stay out of jail.

My questions are as follows.

1. If I am holding in my hand, a +5 extension tube, is that considered a prohibited device while not mounted on a firearm?
2. Once mounted, does the plug to limit the tube to 5 rounds need to be permanently installed with epoxy or tig welded? Or can one use some sort of blocking dowel?
3. Confirming that the tube capacity is calculated based on the largest shell your shotgun is chambered for. ie if its 2 3/4" and 3" stamped on the barrel, you must be blocked at 5x 3".
4. Ghost loading and having one in the pipe is kosher, for a total capacity of 7 rounds in a semi. If LEO rolls up and sees this, am I loosing by butt virginity?

Thanks for the help in advance.

1) No.
2) Must be "permanent". Epoxied in, welded, or riveted would all be fine.
3) It can't hold 6 of whatever length the receiver is designed for. If you can fit in 5.9 of 3", but not 6, you're good.
4) Who knows. Most LEO aren't aware of the finer points of the Firearms Act.

Just a point on question 1). I fully agree that I would not consider an extension tube a prohibited device. That being said I brought in a Nordic tube for my VM and it got flagged by the CBSA as being a prohibited device and it got confiscated as they investigated it. I eventually got it, after waiting two months, but it was a bit of a hassle. I called the officer listed on the CBSA letter and made a few points in defense of the tube/myself, and while he was nice enough to deal with it definitely sucked to have to wait so long. I should also add that this was just a +3 (which was one of the points I made to the officer, advertised capacity of 2, +3=5). I was originally going to order the +5 for aesthetics and plug it, but changed my mind (because I was worried about the CBSA), had it been the +5, I'm not positive that they would have let it through (not saying that would be correct action, just my experience).

I appreciate the info on this. I have a Nordic tube sitting in Montana so I'll update with how things go.

I have a 930 that I just put a +2 ext on . . . it is marked on the barrel 2 3/4 and 3" . . . the gun now holds 6 2 3/4" but only 5 3" shells . . . is that ok or do I have to plug it?
Thanks

[emphasis mine]

If you can hold no more than five 3 inch shells in the magazine of your 930, you're fine.
