Hi Guys. I have on again and off again been looking for an externally adjusted scope like the malcolm or unertl style scopes. I have not seen any for sale are they completely extinct or have I been looking in the wrong places? I have two antique martini rifles that I would like to mount the scopes to. Neither martini is in original shape, they are both custom and would be awesome to find one of these scopes as they fit the era of the rifles.

I have seen some of the benchrest frozen scopes with the external adjustment but these are extremely expensive. I was hoping that someone might have a lead to re-manufacture or possibly someone making new ones.

Thanks

Dave

Pretty much that is it. Some can give as much as 150moa with the benchrest ones. I am trying to find more of a period looking scope like a unertl for my .218bee martini, if I can get another one then it would go on a .577snider. The only advantage that I can see for them is there adjustment. I have only been able to find the custom made ones for bench rest and I think those ones are starting to disappear.

What would it give that a regular scope would not
a bigger spring to secure W/E adjustments from the recoil ... maybe truer tracking of W&E within the sweet spot... and often finer W&E adjustments with the big thimbles

Back in the day Baush and Lomb made scopes that needed externally adjusted mounts. They were just hollow tubes with no provision for adjustments. The mounts provided both vertical and horizontal adjustment. The scopes ran from 2 snd 4 power fixed and several variable power ones. I don't know if there was ever a mount for your rifles but there is a company in the USA. The company is called HE GIBBS., that purchased all of B&L's mounts. Hope this is of some help to you.

Cool thank you. I will get in touch with them. I am still looking for a unertl scopes.

Here is the idea I am trying to replicate.

Unertl's do come up for sale on this site now and then. They are usually sold within a few hours of being listed though, unless they are seriously overpriced.

Montana Vintage Arms makes excellent Malcolm style scopes, as well as a copy of the B5.

Chris.
