Hi, I am wondering who makes cases or protective sleeves for rifle barrels for switch barrel rifles for field transport in a drag bag or backpack for example?

There is a barrel sleeve made here in Canada, it comes in several lengths depending on the barrel length.
It is a quilted inner with a vinyl outside, fold and tie closure flap.
Works very well keeping the barrel clean and protects from scratches when not on the action.

A pool cue case might be an idea as well. Soft or hard.

I have a H&R Handirifle, the chevrolet of switch barrels; 45-70 and 30-06. Have been looking for a relatively compact hard or soft case that allows me to case the complete rifle, and extra barrel. The 45-70 wears a reddot, and the 30-06 has a 3-9.

Sinclairs sells barrel sleeves, also hard cases for that use.

Ahh sinclair. They have lots of great stuff. I try to avoid them with the dollar so low and the import duties but I will take a look. Thanks.

A cheaper option is a military surplus spare barrel cover from a GPMG (Browning) or the like, 30-40 bucks on Ebay.

A plastic thread protector for the spare barrel will reduce the risk of thread damage and is a good addition to a barrel case.
