Extraction problem

My Marlin Model 57 is quite accurate for a lever gun, shooting 5 shot groups a bit over an inch at 50 yds. with most cheap ammo and functions well with it. I get 0.65" groups with Lapua Super Club but it will not extract. Never! Even Lapua Standard Club functions well. No other brand has failed to extract even once, while Super Club has not worked one single time. I can't see any difference in the case. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions?

stay away from that brand of ammo for starts, maybe a weak extractor spring? I`m not familiar with that model but it sounds accurate.

Superclub uses a a match type lube; different then the lube you would find on regular bulk ammo. Its more sticky. Try cleaning out the chamber real good and you should be good to go

I thought the only difference between Lapua standard club is that it comes in 500 round tins and Lapua Super club comes in 50 round boxes?

Hmm, they are the exact same rounds .

They look the same but the lube is different. The Standard Club feels greasy or wet while the Super club feels almost dry.

Maybe different lot numbers? I know even some of the lapua superclub I have some has greasy lube while others have dry lube. From what i have seen, and read on the Lapua website, they are the same.

Club has the greasy lube, the bullets look black. Trainer and up have more of a wax lube, the bullets look grey.

The same or not, Standard Club extracts every time while not one Super Club would extract. I had to push out each case with a cleaning rod. They were very tight.

OK, I doubt we will come to a conclusion if they are different or the same but like I said, just give the chamber a good cleaning and they should be good. My 10/22 jams the superclubs if I have a real dirty chamber.

I can't get a brush in from the receiver end but I did from the muzzle. The action doesn't open very far. I don't have a brush short enough even for a pull through. I'm going to try to get the time to try it out today. If it doesn't work, I will try bending a brush to fit.

Ok, its probably best not to mess with it. I don't generally like to clean from the muzzle, because you could wreck the crown, but I do it anyways on my 10/22. Usually I just pull it back through. Maybe not the smartest thing to do but it is highly customized and shoots with the best of em
