Extractor Issues With My Model 99 Savage.

Shot my 99 Savage in .308 today for the first time. The rounds weren't ejecting. I had to shove a rod down the barrel to kick it out. I was shooting milsurp ammo. I'm thinking the chamber may be all gummed up and in need of a good cleaning. Thoughts?

Sounds like they weren't extracting, different function.
Try cleaning the chamber and see what that does.

Somewhat common with the 308 in the 99, you will likely need to fit a new extractor but may get away with squaring up the extractor edge which is likely rounded where it pulls on the rim.
