extrema 2 cycling question

Took my new beretta to the range today, only to be dissapointed that it wouldnt cylce the target loads. They were cheapo winchesters in 2 3/4" and 3 dram. Does anyone esle have this problem? Will 3 1/4 dram make the difference? maybe a different brand?
 
have you shot this gun at all ? start off with some heavy load first, go through at least a flat, it should then cycle all other shells no problem, I have had no problems with my Xtrema at all
 
The manual states that a breking-in period with heavy loads may be required.

The one I used to own required about 150 rounds of 3" slugs before it would cycle target loads reliably.
 
If the break in suggested doesn't work, try another brand. My baikal has a hard time with the winchester super target but fires through the ctc federal cheapies no problem. Also try cleaning the gun and lubing where recommended. I'm not familiar with berettas but perhaps you could adjust the gas system??? 2 3/4" loads in a 3.5" gun is asking alot.
 
Should have bought a Winchester. Cycles everything from 1 oz to super heavy 3 1/2" mags. RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!

Take it back to the dealer. Your new Beretta is covered by warranty.

Tell them Beretta states in their advertising: (direct quote)

" This superb auto-loading shotgun was designed and built to reliably function 2-3/4", 1-ounce equivalent loads through brutal 3-1/2" magnum loads-interchangeably if you so desire"

Then tell them this is what you bought and it doesn't do it ... that you want it replaced with one that does !!!

... with all that $$$$ invested in a top-of-the-line auto loader, whay are you shooting "cheapo" shells through it ???
 
Manual says to clean and lube it once you get it home. Also talks about a break-in period with heavier shells. If you have done both and still can't get it to cycle light loads then take it back.

I have cleaned out more gunk, chunks and grit from the factory than I care to remember.
 
When I got mine it would not cycle. I discovered that it was put together wrong. There is a rubber o-ring that goes inside the forestock at the muzzle end that was not up where it should be. Once this was where it belonged it worked flawlessly with all loads I fed it.

I am a winchester SX2 owner and I can't shoot clay of any kind with Target loads... I have to be shooting a Hunting loads to get it to cycle properly...

I just buy the #4 shot pheasent loads from Wallmart for clays... makes dust very easily! It just makes it more fun when I am going up against guys shooting 71/2 and they are freaking out when they hear I am using #4... aperently it puts me at a handicap?!

I shot mine out of the box with the cheapie target loads. Never failed once. I shoot skeet with it regularly. The only time it ever failed on me was with a 3.5" 2,3/4 oz turkey load that got jammed up somehow. (got caught halfway out)
I shot a few dozen of those x-heavy heavy loads over the past 2 years with no problems since.
 
I was going to say that mine never failed but that isn't true come to think of it. 3.5 inch Remington Nitro magnum gave me some trouble. Turns out amongst the crew I hunt with others had trouble with these as well in a variety of shotguns. I asked my smith and he had heard this from others, something about the size of the empty shell not ejecting properly. With everything else though it has functioned flawlessly.

A superx2 is not a superx3, completely different gun and gas chambers.

But good shooting with the #4!
 
Never a problem with my Beretta. As per the manual instructions, I fired some heavy shells first. My gun handles the lightest target loads with no issues. I'll vouch for the KO system as well.....it makes the biggest 3.5 incher's feel like regular 2-3/4" shells, and target 2-3/4' shells recoil more like a .223 :).

In your highly regarded opinion,what would you suggest for range use ammo?

I don't follow. Do you mean the beretta will only handle the 3 1/2ers for less than 2 seasons, or any auto loader?
