With the previous buzz about the new C19 Ranger rifle and the Tikka 'Arctic' being released I have decided I need an custom Arctic rifle. Not one for off the shelf offering.
Choosing an action is the first step in my thought process. I'm a Mauser fan... but there is an action that is more proven in arctic conditions. The Lee-enfield No4.
First step is finding a suitable No4 Mk1/2, Mk1/3, or Mk2 action. Better yet is an allready converted .308 action.
Second is sourcing a stainless 20-22" .308 barrel and a gunsmith to convert the action and fit the barrel.
Third is sourcing a good laminate stock similar to the L8 or enforcer pattern.
Lastly is the scope. I'm a classic guy and I would the WW2 or L8 style side mount. Scope is yet to be determined.
Now. Can this happen for less than $2700
...or is it just easier to buy a AIA and be done with it?
