Hi all,

I have a question about a odd rifle I received today. It is a 1911 Long Rifle but its serial number falls in the range of a Zoll K11. Serial Number is P2094. It also has a cloth or plastic ring around the barrel instead of the regular aluminum one. The front sight also seems to be the K11/K31 style (its not like my 96/11) I am hoping someone here can illuminate more about this rifle as it is a mystery to me.
Here are some pics of the rifle in question.

And if you made it this far here is a photo of my Swiss Rifles. (from the top down, G96/11 made in 1904, 1911 Long rifle in question above, 1911 Carbine (K11) made in 1914, 1911 Carbine (K11) made in 1927, 1931 Carbine (K31) made in 1954)

I would guess some Swiss previous owner could see the square sight post of the K11/K31 better than they could the diamond shape post on the 96/11 and 1911 models and changed it himself, or had someone do it for him.
Diamond shape not too good for older eyes, usually.
Entire front sight assembly would have had to be change and it would have to be ther smaller K11 front sight assembly used to fit the 1911 barrel diameter instead of one from a K31.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking maybe someone had a K11 rebarreled to G11 Configuration and put a K11 sight on it (which wasn't making sense to me because why go through all that effort as you would have to find a new stock and barrel).

Well taking a look at the sight it is off a K31. What I am thinking about this rifle is someone bought it as a K11 when it was sold off then after shooting out the barrel or wanting better accuracy put a G11 barrel on it. They didn't like the front sight so they put a K31 sight on it as well. Or the commonly available production numbers are off and it was a G11 and when privatized it had a K31 sight placed on it. The gun was pretty dirty (hadn't been cleaned in a long time) so it was obviously shot often. The trigger on it seems lighter then my other Swiss rifles as well so they might have modified that as well.

Thanks Diopter for the links and the assistance you have provided, I am likely just going to put this up on the EE as it wasn't what I was looking for (I had ordered a G11 from the store and this is what came in, since they had ordered it specially for me I had to buy it or lose the ability to deal there again). I might take it to the range and see what it is sighted in at as now I am curious.
