So here's the story. My son was born with Cerebral Palsy. It is very mild however he walks with a slight limp and his fine motor skills on his right side (especially his right hand) are not that great. He has always compensated quite well and has been hunting with me since he was very small and is now 21 years old. He has always shot a Browning BLR that was handed down to me from my father and I in turn handed it down to him and fit it with a nice harris bi-pod to make sure that he could always hold steady. He has taken a half a dozen or so deer with this set up and it has worked through the years.
However this past February he was playing paintball (without a mask
) and took a direct hit to his left eye. The damage was quite severe and the doctors were unsure of whether or not he would regain sight. Well after a few surgeries and reattaching the retina he now has gained most of his vision back and can perform daily tasks as before. However he has scar tissue in his eye that will never go away and what that does is cause a blind spot in the center of his vision on his left eye. Normally it isn't a problem because his right eye see's what his left eye doesn't and his brain just makes one complete picture when both eyes are open.
So here's the problem, he cant see through a scope with his left eye and he can't shoot right handed due to the Cerebral Palsy.
Has anyone ever had any experience with an issue like this? I am thinking perhaps a left handed rifle right a right side mounted scope would help him to see through the scope with his right eye while still shooting left handed... Any thoughts?
