Hi,i recently purshased a falcon menace 4.5x18x56 went to the range to zero it. The problem is at 18x, the scope is always hitting my nose, even with a .308.
That is the sacrifice, with magnification, you will lose eye relief and field of view. Nothing you can do about it, back it off to where your comfortable, sorry.
Sometimes it's how you mount your scope that affects your eye relief but in this case I’m guessing you’re scooting your head up closer to the scope to open up the exit pupil (or the FOV so to say). The higher the magnification the smaller the exit pupil so the smaller the FOV will be.
Usually you set scope up by addressing it normally on the highest magnification. Loosen the mounts so the scope is able to move forward or backwards. Maintaining your normal head position (as if your scope is on the lowest setting) you want to position the scope as until the FOV is “open” on the highest magnification. You should try to set the scope as far forward as you can with the FOV. Good luck with it.
i've only used mine on 14X because of mirage but haven't noticed a problem..the eye relief isn't as generous as a Leupold but not too bad...try it on 14x..still lots of magnification.
