Eye relief

Have a newly aquired Falcom Menace in 4.5-18. Is the eye relief suppose to tighten as the magnification goes up. Seems I can move my head all around at 4.5 but crank it to 18 power and you have to find a sweet spot.

Bob, the answer is "yes". As magnification increases, eye relief decreases.

Yup.

The Falcon 4-14x 44mm FFP scope seems to be more forgiving than the 4.5-18x 56mm.

I'm happy with both for their intended purposes. I'm using them on .22 and .223 rifles.

This depends on what the rifle is used for. A low recoiling target rifle with a high power scope sight with minimal eye relief does not impact negatively on the shooter. But if the rifle is a light weight hard kicking powerful hunting rifle, the longer the eye relief the better to prevent injury.

Guess its more about preference. I see some scopes have a fixed eye relief. Some say something likw 3.5-3.9
