Eyewear Prescpription What Do You Do For The Range

I wear glasses and wonder how most people handle this at the range when safety glasses are required? Do most people get contacts and use regular shooting glasses?Thanks

+1 on these, plus Cat Crap Anti Fog cleaner, the goggle style tends to fog up. Got mine with transitions lenses so they go from early morning hunt to day at the range.

Wiley-X Brick with transition prescription polycarbonate lenses. I wear them for work too. I quite like them. Good coverage, no more giant exposed parts of the eye, but without looking too fugly.

Me too. They are plastic lenses so won't shatter. They are also good enough that they pass for safety glasses at work too.

If I'm not wearing my contacts, and then safety glasses, I'm wearing my spectacles which are impact resistant plastic lenses, was told they are as effective as most shooting glasses.

X2 regular plastic lenses, not the small preppy lenses with small coverage. Rifle or pistol? Optics or iron sight? If you're near-sighted, get one shooting eye lense with unifocus distance from lense to front sight of handgun. Works well for me(age 72). You'll have to explain that u want front sight specifically in focus(target may be fuzzy, lesser of 32 evils).

Regular plastic lenses and glass lenses don't meet the standard. As I said before Oakley and their RX line confirm to the correct ANSI standard.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Mobile O Lab at any consumer event it will give you a shocking glimpse into eye wear safety standards.

Johnny TK will come away from this more confused than before he asked lol...... speaking from MY experience only, while wearing my plastic lensed specs I have had a squib load from a 357 Magnum blow up in my face and on another occasion have had copper jacketing hit my glasses, walked away from both unscathed. If Johnny TK is extremely concerned about the situation he SHOULD talk to his eye care professional and get their opinion. While wearing my specs I have never been injured or been questioned regarding my eye wear at any range by anyone. I do however feel "safer" wearing contacts and regular safety glasses because they offer better coverage for the eye, most peoples prescription glasses are not as large as safety eyewear.

I use some Uvex genesis safety glasses along with the prescription insert. Replacement lenses are cheap and readily available. Pita when I get water or dirt between the two but for the price, it's a good compromise.
