a little history on these guns gleaned from the worlds fighting shotguns by Thomas F Swearengen. they were the worlds first successful slide action shotgun .designed and manufactured by Christopher M Spencer and Sylvester H Roper . first designed in 1880 and a patent filed in 9 January 1882 .the first guns went on sale in 1883 .the barrels have a Damascus pattern but are actually steel forgings .the first trigger is a reset or auxiliary cocking lever and is pushed forward to re-#### the hammer if you have a misfired shell .your gun is built by Francis Bannerman who purchased the company at bankruptcy about 1889 and continued to produce these guns up till world war one .an interesting piece of history for sure . thanks for sharing .
Thank you! We were on the fence as to whether it had a damascus barrel or not. At the time of production, damascus barrels were the "in" thing, and some companies made barrels to appear to be damascus.
