Hi,

Is there much opportunity to shoot f-class factory sporter in BC? At Volkes or Kamloops?

I currently shoot NRA long and mid-range BPTR and am looking for something different that is a little closer to home.

thanks,

Chris.

Chris,

As far as the lower mainland goes, some of the 300 yd matches at Mission have a factory sportier class and I am sure that a sportier class rifle would be welcome at club 300 practices at Mission and club 600 at Vokes

Thanks. I'll look into those.

I've got a Rem 700 VS in .308 with an older Burris 6-24x50 scope and a Harris bipod. It's mostly collecting dust. I really haven't checked the elevation limits of the scope, but I think it ought to be good for mid-range distances.

Bring your stuff to Kamloops. You can shoot with us anytime. Normally you will shoot 10 rounds strings instead of 15 for factory class. We don't normally shoot a factory class due to no interest in the past but if you want to come to shoot with us come.
We shoot two strings of 15 every Sunday but once a month we have a mini match of 3 strings of 15.

Thanks Steve. That sounds fun. What distances do you shoot the mini matches at?

thanks,

Chris.

I just had a look at the KTSA web site. I assume it's the F-Class winter league practice and matches you are talking about?

I will get up there and give it a try, but not until later in March or April. I'm getting ready for a BPTR long range match at Ben Avery early in March. I'll have to dust off the .308 before then and get that rifle sorted out too.

thanks very much,

Chris.

We have 300 and 500 meters, 700 and 900 yard ranges. Once a month we get access to the long range 700 or 900 stuff but the rest of the time we either shoot 300 or 500 meters depending on access and conditions. Last week we were planning to shoot the 500 but the winds were blowing between 40 and 60 kph so we stayed at 300 meters. This weekend probably 500. Just depends.

Come up and shoot but be warned it is addicting!!!

Thanks Steve. I'm already addicted to long range competition so I imagine I'll find this type of shooting quite fun too. :).

I'll have to see how much up travel I've got in the scope. It has a 30mm tube ( it's actually a Bushnell not a Burris ) but a 0 MOA base so I'm not sure how much range I can get out of it. That's a pretty easy to solve problem though. I've only shot this rifle to 200m but it likes 165gr and 178gr Amax bullets at that distance.

Is your 300m position covered then? Its nice to hear that you get some wind.

Chris.
