Kyle, Highmark (Eric) is EXACTLY the dude you want to hook up with. There is a big match coming up on the July long weekend near Clagary... if that postal strike looks like it is going to muck up your XC, I will bring along a rifle you can use; I will load the ammo and we can team up. We'll turn you into such an F-Class junkie, you'll be jonesing for your next fix! Say the word and I will make it happen for you.

Ian

Wow thx Ian! That's a really nice offer ! Hopifully this strike only last a day or two, can't see it holding up to long anyway. I got faith the xc will be ready :)

So I got the idea but how does it work? Do I need a partner? And do you need to compete all 3 days? Just wondering if I need to do the paperwork to take the Friday off.

It's gona be good to actually meet you guys, I'm pretty excited. I think this is gona be fun :)

No partners needed, but what the match directors do is assign 3 shooters per target, You lie beside each other on the mound and you take turns shooting, and you keep score for the fellow to your right.

You shoot 15 rounds on score at each distance, plus two sighters (which if they are well-placed, you can apply to your score... (there are some 'conditions', but we'll fill you in on the mound). This match will be shot at 800, and 900M

To be eliigible for prizes and placing in the match, you would need to shoot all days. ALso, if it comes down to the directors having to turn people away because it is full, they will want a full participant rather than a partial.

Here is the course of fire for the three days:

Schedule & Course of Fire: 150 rounds on score plus 20 convertible sighters. Course of fire is based upon three squadded relays of three grouped shooters per relay alternating shot for shot (Bisley Style) per target on six target frames.

Thursday June 30, 2011

Range set up, competitor registration and rifle inspection, open practice at 800m.

Friday July 01, 2011

• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 800m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 800m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 900m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 900m

Saturday July 02, 2011

• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 800m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 800m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 900m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 900m
• BBQ

Sunday July 03, 2011

• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 900m
• 2 sighters and 15 on score at 900m
• Prizes & Awards

Thursday will be a sight-in and set up day, so we will have the opportunity to get some practice and some 800M Zeroes.

I would suggest you bring along a shooting mat, hearing protection, sun screen, a clipboard, and a clear plastc bag large enough to keep your clip board in when shooting to keep it dry. Likewise, a small towel to cover your rifle action in case it rains.... that is of course on top of all your other shooting stuff... gun, rear bag, bipod, ammo...

Drop me a line if you'd like to know more.

You will learn more about precison shooting in between relays and getting to know the terrific guys in the sport, than you will from decades on this forum. This match will improve your marksmanship!

Ian

Thx Ian!
I'm going to try and get Thursday and Friday off work. Worst case I'll come down forsure on Saturday to at least meet some of you guys and if lucky maby get to compete the rest as well. Prizes are not a big deal, I'll take simply the experience as my trophy!

Looking forward to it! And I have no dout in mind I'll be a junky looking for my next F class fix lol.

Don't forget our Provincial match coming up June 24-26. The Lt Gov match is Friday and the Provincial match is Sat/Sun.

Well said Ian, and yes don't forget the provincials. This would be a great place to get your feet wet, and not have to shoot the friday. You will not have to pull targets at the Westerns so that's one less thing to learn.
If you can make it to the Westerns, you would not regret it, unless you have to shoot with Ian in his Loepard skin speedo!!! Jokes!!!!
As Ian mentioned, you will learn so much more in one weekend of shooting here than years of blogging around on CGN. Hope to meet you soon!!
Cheers
Eric

Kyle, you can camp right at the range. We BC Hillbillies will be the ones with rusty ford trucks, piles of beer cans and our big ugly dogs chewing on dead things... Except for Richard, he will be wearing purple spandex and practicing his ballet moves next to a portable mirror on a sheepskin rug.

The camping area is oh.... 100 feet from the 800M shooting mound! There is a $####ter there, but nothing else, so bring rats and water.

I wont be coming out this weekend sorry. My 6xc is stuck in a post office somewhere.

Just posting this because I dont wana be that guy who says hes gona show and dont.
