Can someone who owns a FAB forend, and has used it with an optic, please tell me how well it returns to zero when removed for cleaning on a CZ 858?

I am planning on using a red dot on an 858, just trying to decide if the aluminium forends (probably a PRI mount) are worth the extra cash.

Thanks!

Don't have a problem with mine. There is interlocking teeth that make sure it goes back in the same way every time.

I still don't think there is a handguard mount that truly returns to zero when disassembled and then reassembled.

Well? Is there?

The FAB stuff aint bad. For the price I say you are at the very least getting your money's worth. :). Of course this comes from a FAB Defense dealer.

Thanks for the info, looks like the FAB is the best bang for the buck.

I noticed that the factory wood forend gets quite hot after a little while - any heat issues with the synthetic FAB forend?

If you wanted to spend the money, what mount will consistently hold zero? Does it exist?

-I have heard that the Dlask setup is good from some people and bad from others, so I guess YMMV.

-FAB stuff is generally within 2moa.

-CAA stuff is generally the same as FAB

-I have been told that the PRI is about 1-2moa

-I hear that the one wolverine will be selling is about 1 moa as well.

Getting true RTZ from any QD mount is always difficult, if you can get 1-2MOA you should be happy IMHO.

Now the side mount we've been working on allows you to clean the rifle completely without removing the optic and with over 2000 rds on mine I have only had to adjust POI due to ammo changes, even after repeated removal of the optic I'm within 1MOA.

I would love to see a barrel mount which would use the CZ's little abutments on each side of the gas port housing to establish a reference point. That mount would be bolted to the barrel like a V-block and would present a flat upper mating surface for different thickness short rails, thus allowing different height red-dot or reflex sights share a common plane of co-witnessing.
One would buy the universal mount and get the rail needed for his choice of sight.
Is that too complex?
PP.

I did up a prototype of such a beast but abandoned it.

Have you ever spent a day of rapid shooting and touched the barrel? If you have you will note that is gets hella hot. Too hot IMHO and the heat would transfer directly to the optic.
