Sorry for the long post.

Looking for some help guys. I'm in the market for a short shotgun and have narrowed it down to the fabarm 11" pistola or the 14" martial ultrashort. I've held both at the store and can't decide. Please help.

I am missing a bit of information though...what is the tube capacity of the two? It says on the fabarm website and a few places that the 11" will hold 4 in the tube and the 14" will hold 5 in the tube. The dealer told me different. Then I thought I read another number somewhere else.

What is the real capacity of the two shotguns with 2 3/4" shells in the tube only? This might make my decision easier.
Any tricks to getting an extra shell in?

I haven't owned a shorty shotgun before so I need your help. The intended use of this shotgun would be to take it with me fly fishing (wearing it on my back), camping, a little hiking, and just general defence of anything that comes bumping in the night. I'm talking general defence of wild animals of the 4 and 2 legged variety. And yes, of course, I want a new toy as well.

So what are your suggestions either way 11" or 14" barrel?

The one thing was the 11" has nice sights but seem to be quite high and I worry about it catching on whatever I put it in on my back...the back sight is removable the front is not according to what I was told by dealer (red and green sights). Well not easily removed...probably some gunsmithing required.

The 14" just has a regular bead sight at the front.

Any help please, please.
I'm not concerned about price difference between the two.
Don

BC has a a silly min barrel length for hunting (12.5") so I'd probably go with the 14"er.
Not much longer or heavier, but it carries an extra shell and I can hunt with it in B.C. if I want.

A good front bead that is regulated for the gun is all you really need and quite fast if the gun fits you well.
You could also add sights or change the bead if you don't like it.

Thanks Can-down. I live in Alberta and not sure what the minimum length is for hunting. Doubt I will be doing any hunting but it may true that I would get hassled less if the gun was longer.

Looking forward to hearing all perspectives and especially the fabarm owners out there.

Can you please point out where in the regs this is?

As owner of both the 14" and 11" models, my choice is 11". Actually, I have the Magpul 870 SGA stock with S&J adapter on it. It’s awesome :)

Hey pazzo, what is the capacity of both in the tube if you have both. That might help make the decision easier.

Wow this thread really turned. Help...help.please

Relax I was getting back to your previous question. This thread turned out for the better anyways.

The 11" Pistola holds 4+1 BRENNEKE Slugs (all manufacturers differ in length, but that doesn’t matter because Brenneke is the best for penetration and that’s all I’m using).
I think the 14" holds 5+1 iirc.

Reading up on both links. I saw the one in the Regs but was thinking about it being a handgun and not a gun with a full stock. F*cked up.

I know. It doesn't make sense but when do any Canadian laws regarding firearms? I would bet it could be changed if enough people wrote letters...

SGA stock does great on my 14"

For what OP is describing, I would definitely choose a bead sight over any of the ghost ring stuff

Is it possible to find a slightly shorter "full stock" for the 14". Something that looks a little more stock than the SGA stock that TV Press Pass has? Although it is nice

Do you know any 00 buckshot that allows you to get the 4 in tube on the 11"?

I assume the 11" spread will be larger than the 14"? Or will this be negligible?

Don't they come with chokes?
Choke has more effect on spread the barrel length.

Which stocks are on the guns you are considering?
Pistol grip or traditional?

Good point chokes are an option. Thank you

Just a regular stock...I don't want pistol grip.
