Fabarm Ellegi and steel shot

Hello everyone,
I have a 1986 Fabarm Ellegi 3 inches full choke. My gunsmith says I can shoot steel. I have some doubt. What do you think.

Have the choke opened to IC or modified. The full choke may be too much constriction and you may run the risk of damaging the barrel shooting steel shot through it. Damage may not be immediate, but it may happen over time. Also, smaller shot sizes would be much better than the larger shot sizes
