I've been thinking of trying out a Fabarm shotgun. The Fabarm seems like an attractive SG and they are priced fair. I know nothing about them and have no way to physically inspect one.

Are they reliable? Durable? Easy take down?

Fabarm shotguns rule. Waaaay nicer fit and finish than any recent 870. As noted, you won't be disappointed.

The spring assist can be removed. It's cool, but a pain when trying to load an empty gun.

Unless your planning on using it as a hammer, barrel profile isnt a big deal. :) I don't have one to compare right now to my 870s, but it shouldnt be high on your concern list. ;)

I've owned a fabarm martial pro forces and an axis o/u- both very high quality firearms.

I've owned my Fabarm Martial Pro Forces 14" since 2006. Extremely corrosion resistant, light, durable, dead reliable, and bad ass looking. Many guns have come and gone since 2006, this one isnt going anywhere. Best shotgun I have ever owned. I love it.

Here is is with my 8.5" norc (which only a few oz's lighter!). If I had to pick one, I'd throw the norc off a bridge in a heart beat.

Excellent fit and finish, action works much smoother than an 870, you can thread on external chokes or a door-knocker. There are different options for sights, mine has a small front blade / no rear, others have ghost ring as show above. Mine has a barrel shroud over the top for cool factor. I doubt I'll ever get it hot enough to worry about. I also bought an S&J single point adapter plate and the Fabarm Pic rail for the front grip with a Surefire on it.

I like it so much I've asked TSE if they can bring in a skeet barrel for it.

I owned the regular stock bead sight 14" version. The SG is nice and light with very good fit and finish.
The only negative IMO is the "loaf of bread" fore-grip. Due to the length of the fore-grip, the receiver gets tracks marks from cycliing it (see Nine's pic re: tape). If I were to pick one up again I would replace the grip with a standard size.
IIRC...Target Sports has both black and nickel finish in-stock.

Thank you for all the feedback. Classy pair of SG's Nine.

I called up The Shooting Edge and asked a few questions. I must admit I am a bit put off by the choke system. I prefer internal ones. Maybe I'm too picky, but that's how I am.

I would rather get the 14 inch Benelli Supernova with adjustable stock instead of Turkish made Italian wannabe Fabarm. :)

They sell standard cob foregrips if you dont like the big front grip.

I like mine well enough- there isnt a better backpacking shotgun IMO. Super light aluminum receiver but is similar to an 870 I think???? my beef with them is the feed ramp- its prolly worse than the one on the 870- just clunky. In cold weather if you managed to half feed a shell, itd drop behind the feed ramp and jam the gun(maybe a problem with my particular gun) until you remove the barrel which I dont like since its a zombie/bear/terminator defense gun. If I could get a 14" mossberg Id prolly sell it.

The fact that it's 14" and you can screw on chokes is pretty outstanding really. And the mag capacity is +1 to all the other 14" shotguns if Im not mistaken.

It's one of the best out of the box 14 inch pump guns we can get
The forend is ###!!
Every time called the importer for 3 yrs I was told sorry no short forend...

FYI the turkish guns are both knock off and lic copy of the fabarm not the other way around

I just received my SDASS today (Thanks! Edyshok) and went and shot it a bit. I had a 870 before and thought the quality was really poor although the design is good. My SDASS is very light, the thing pumps like it's on ball bearing compared to the 870. Trigger and all controls seem well made. I am so sick of garbage tools of all sorts....anyone have a line on chokes though?
