I have come across a guy trying to sell a fabarm sxs 12 gauge. He does let know much about it, so this is where I need some of you experts to help me out hopefully. The serial number on the gun is 801473, he says it dates back to the 80s. Says it's chambered for 3" and has 28 inch barrels, also has a English stock and a picture of a lion on it. My question to you guys is are these good shotguns or should I stay away? And if they are decent what are they worth? I'll add some pictures because everyone likes pictures haha

Nope, you dont want it , send the gun to me please.
From the pictures it appears to be a very pretty gun and that alone (to me and my opinion) would be enough to pounce on it .
Of course this depends on whether it falls into your realm of disposable income and risk tolerance of course.
It certainly isnt a Pig wearing Lipstick if you ask me, but again my taste and risk tolerance may differ from yours.
And again the risk tolerance comes into play for which you intend to use this interesting shotgun as for reaming the barrels for steel shot and utilizing the 3 inch chambers I personally wouldnt.

Fabarms are pretty decent guns although their over/unders are far more popular that the SxS. The gun in the photo looks to be like decent quality although it lacks several higher end features if one can go by the pics provided. A lot comes down to what the asking price is.

I own a couple of newer fabarms. They are well made and typically good value.

Doesn't appear to have an older one listed but might give you some idea. I'm sure others more knowledgeable will chime in.
Other option would be to post on Alberta outdoorsman forum one of the moderators (catinthehat) is a wealth of info on all things shotgun.

What is it lacking? And he's asking 900 for it

From the pics you don't notice teardrops on the stock, checkering on the ears of the stock, or a crossbolt in the action or a rib extension, or sideclips or bolstered action. That doesn't mean the gun isn't good quality just that on higher end guns you may see some of these things.
I don't know if the single trigger caused issues or not in these guns.

Depending if the year of production is accurate, it could maybe be a gun that was imported by Heckler and Koch. They had a silver lion model if I remember well. If it is the case it would be a pretty decent gun.

Fabarm makes excellent quality double barrel shotguns, one of there new models will cost you over $2500. The one you have in the pics there looks to be a pre H&K import. If it doesn't have screw in chokes then it's a pre H&K import. Probably made in the 80's, a good quality double and Worth at least $1000 if not more depending on condition.
